A Linear Day book depicting the events that occur in my daily life.Linear Day

Foundations, Linear Day, 4×6, Mixed Media, 9/14/2013
Design a linear achromatic depiction of a typical day in your life. Design a cover for the book that is relevant to style and content of your linear drawing.

The piece is achromatic and has heavy contrast. The piece has varied line weight and is symmetrical to give the piece a balanced feel to the piece. There is a lot of heavy black towards the bottom of the piece and a lot of negative space towards the top. The viewers eye will start at the middle of the piece and move from the left side to the right side.

In my linear day, I have a closed eye to represent sleep at the beginning of my day. Above the eye there is a cloudy, fiber-like texture. This represents dreams and all of the thoughts that are going through my head when I’m sleeping. The cobweb towards the left side of the piece represents how tired I am all day and how my brain feels like it’s in a fog. The owl, which is the focal point of the piece represents all of my schooling and knowledge because my world currently revolves around school. The open eye at the end represents my alert mind that I use for doing homework and accomplishing all of my tasks that are due tomorrow. The fiber-like texture above represents all of the thoughts that are going through my head during this time.
